A big part of our philosophy is that every NestyCam should be infinitely repairable. There is no part of NestyCam 4K that can’t be repaired or replaced by us. Our use of adhesives is minimised to maximise ease of disassembly and repair.
To date, nesting box inspection cameras have been assembled from fossil-fuel-based, off-the-shelf components such as potentially toxic PVC piping, that are inappropriate to expose to vulnerable wildlife populations and unsuitable for the high demands of extensive monitoring programs.
However this all changes with the launch of NestyCam 4K which is made from 100% sustainable bioplastic synthesised from renewable resources.
The high quality Polyamide PA11 used in NestyCam 4K begins life as castor beans that are refined into castor oil. Then, through proprietary processes, the 18 carbon castor oil chain is cleaved into an 11 carbon (C11) and a 7 carbon (C7) fraction. The C11 fraction is further reacted in a complex series of highly specific steps to produce the amino 11 monomer (aminoundecanoic acid).

Being mounted on a pole with a Wifi range of up to 10 metres, NestyCam 4K provides a safe alternative to climbing trees or ladders to open the lids of nesting boxes. Many monitoring programs have been dependent upon this hazardous method to date.
